Ranch Poem – “Thoughts on 2012 Election from the House of Corrections”

11/6/12

“Thoughts on 2012 Election from the House of Corrections”

I’m not all that upset about not voting
I really want no part in this election season
Where our sacred right to an equal vote-
the foundation of our freedom nation-
has been diminished by those with bank notes.

A Supreme Court that has corporate America’s back
decides to divide citizens further via
a flood of dark money through Super PACs
It’s blasphemous to the very idea
of the people’s opinion being equal,

how Koch and Adelson can fill the coffers
of our part-time public servants while we
pass our resumes waiting for offers,
fighting off partisan negativity.
Give me the liberty to utter, “Enough!”

I say, may these walls have doors forevermore
and may civic dignity be restored.
Lost track of what politics is good for.
We must not mistake the raft for the shore-
democratic form of right divine.
