Ranch Poem – “This way, That way”

2/10/07

This way, That way

I see the way when I close my eyes.
That red, blue, and green starry sky.
A search for life’s bounty and the headwaters of grace.

I see the way when I think of death.
The billowing the covering of it.
As it pours from Fate’s flame.

I see the way when we ride.
In and out, near and far, the right lane.
The right path on another fossil fuel journey.

I see the way when your eyes tear up.
The wetness from all the mess they left us.
And in the involuntary way your face contracts.

I see the way right here playing loud.
The same way generations were defined.
The way vibrations can impact the soul.

I see the way but never expected to see it.
The direction that changed. The change of change.
And now that I know, I always will.

I see the way in a crowded club, the nexus between.
How she swings that backside side to side.
And how a suit and an addict can dance the same dance.

I see the way outside just yesterday.
The constant movement. The rush.
I see it then, next week, tomorrow and today.

I see it this way.
Some people are so ashamed.
Others are so damn mad.
Some people are sane.
Others just got it bad.
Some people cry and weep.
Others play it safe.
Some people take a leap.
Others live as fakes.
Some people play music.
Others shoot craps.
Some people are here.
Others never were.
Some people fear.
Others got the nerve.
I see it that way.

Ranch Poem – “The Heartwood”

12/28/11

“The Heartwood”

The damp leaves of autumn cling to our soles
some are torn apart, trying to keep hold
I see this distance between
our deepest desires are these diametric wholes

Memories crash like waves on me incessantly
I’m trying to revive their matrices
I’ve seen my past clearer than ever
friends passed on and I’m dreaming about eternity

Seven billion worlds, wondering what to choose
Fate is but a fruit tree, hollow and used
I don’t know any end for suffering
I’m bruised, unseen by others and unfelt by you

Feel like you’re missing something that’s right there
Your night falls your mind stalls eclipsed by fear
We are sensitive satellites
Composing twin universes more dark than clear

These blue veins branch our like hidden rivers
thawing beneath a life reconsidered
My focal length is forever forward
No pinwheel of death diagnosis will wither

Shortest way between us is a curved tree
It’s our successful search for symmetry
Just touch that dimension inside
Meet me in The Heartwood, have faith in awakening

Ranch Poem – “The New Cold War”

3/15/14

“The New Cold War”

Been missing countless toasts with friends,
skipped a thousand ciphers, it aint easy.
Paddling the big river in a solo kayak,
past the alluring rapids and unconscious beaches.
Is every daybreak your life or death knocking?
Well yall, I’ll tell ya I’m clocking light years
rocking, popping and locking everything I am.
Chasing cheers, re-writing jeers,
forgetting beers, staying in the clear.
I’m country, I’m urban, I’m EDM,
I’m jazz, I’m punk, I’m reggae,
I’m tired and amped, I’m wise and clueless,
I’m exiled and home, I’m traditional and revolutionary.
Be easy on me, take me with a grain,
we’re all just waiting on a slow train.

Some of you are fighting potential,
maneuvering around this future destination
escaping yourselves yet to be made,
as if its going to be fucked or shitty or bad.
Its going to turn out as you will it to be.
Believe it blindly if you must,
but don’t for a second put down the oar.

This week, my geographical location is keeping me
from my best friend’s wedding, a neighbor’s funeral,
and my aunt being placed on life support.
It’s a discouraging existence…lots of potholes,
lots of losses at the buzzer, lots of re-injuries,
lots of insomnia, lots of wet socks,
lots of “No’s” and “Fuck you’s” and “Sorry’s”.
And its only the beginning.
And its been this way since the beginning.
If it’s not Malaysian planes disappearing,
it’s trains derailing.
If it’s not typhoon hurricanes on the attack,
it’s Mayor’s governing high on crack.
If it’s not the “new cold war”
it’s a whole lot more
waiting to shake our cores.

Ranch Poem – “Conditions of Eden”

7/3/2011

“Conditions of Eden”

I hope that I continue to write
til I’m old and gray
but if that someday comes early
when my pen runs eternally dry
I know that I will continue to write poesy
in some celestial formless paradise
and post posthumously upon some
cosmic Facebook page
for all sentient beings.
Boundless sunshine shall light
the clouds that I will
write on like primordial paper.
Where creation is spontaneous
and everyone and everything participates.
As I was always one soul in life
we become several after.
Passing through opalescent gate
I shed suffering skin
no need for nervous system.
Escaping the anxiety of living in time
I join the life stream tributaries.
Blood becomes rain, the sun the only heart
rays beat upon my true face
and peace is finally forever.
It is not the peace that the world gives
but peace adamant and amaranthine
as the universe itself.
In this axis mundi cosmos collective
I wake endlessly in no time.
No longer do I move to a temporal rhythm
but the music of life is as beautiful as ever
a mandolin and cello and a piano trio
plays it for me
as my earthly lifetime translates
into a splinter of the infinite deity.
Absolute knowing is nice
(now I understand what the thunder said)
There isn’t much to write about here though.
Nothing to learn, nothing to be wrong about.
But creativity is a need illimitable
even in postmortem, it is revered.
Playing whist with Walt and Waldo
discussing the multitudes manifested
and how to embrace the non-moment
as Odin the God of Poetry.

Ranch Poem – “Morality, like a cello inside me”

9/10/12

“Morality, like a cello inside me”

Eyes closed with the broad sun overflowing
Rose flush sight like a living commencement
Unable to distinguish known from dreamt
I try to feel the Earth-like brain growing

Sing in my sleep, things that cannot be told
Subatomic scales of quiet quintessence
Hear more subtle things with this shadowed sense
Standing up to the void under quilted folds

Morality, like a cello inside me
Plays in magnificent desolation
An étude for the journey’s finale

The day is a perpetual morning
Slack lining a mental mobius strip
Traversing my identity’s orbit
Dreaming back through life, the mind is roaring

Awareness as the tremendous expanse
A fertile vacancy every moment
The heat and honesty of moments
Someday there will exist no circumstance

Morality, like a cello inside me
Plucks away the dandelion days, “kerplunk”
Committing to truth not consistency

Rotting Guerra in the Boston blue sky
No longer fear judgement over Richard
Much have i travelled in the lands of Word
The Crown Prince of the Lotus Blossom Sky

And I’ll fathom hell or climb to heaven
Water and flame shall shoot from my body
in modern man’s death anxiety
Decayed oracles, past their prime tulips

Morality, like a cello inside me
Sustains across terrestrial tones
Held up by the earthy totality

Living is dear, the path must lead somewhere
Navigate a Mondrian of alleys
Eliotical Wastes and Gonzo stories
for dynamic memes to spirit you there

Innumerable transmigrations to chase
I sit in the mind of the rose and hide
from their clenched hearts in a collapse of time
A new generation of the human race
